Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is more than just exercise! PT requires intense training in anatomy, neurology, physiology, kinesiology, and neuro-movement patterns. A Physical Therapist integrates this training to help patients recover from injury and illness by assessing body systems and musculoskeletal movements. By combining manual therapy with neuro-movement re-education and therapeutic exercise we are able to address your issues. We can also assess pediatric motor development. Your sessions will include manual techniques and exercises that best fit your individual lifestyle and goals.

Wellness

Did you know you can see a PT for Wellness and Self Care without a Doctor’s prescription? Craniosacral Therapy: Adults & Pediatrics

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment approach developed within the field of osteopathic medicine, and furthered through DR John Upledger, D.O. The practice of Craniosacral Therapy requires an understanding of anatomy, embryologic growth development and body system movements. This manual technique provides a means of assessing and treating the body system related to the cerebrospinal fluid circulation and the delicate membranes of the brain and spinal cord. It addresses the bones making up the skull, spinal column, and sacrum. These techniques assist systemic alignment, release restrictions from cranium to sacrum, enhancing the function of the central nervous system. Craniosacral Therapy supports the body’s innate ability to heal itself, and is very effective in treating a wide range of medical problems.

Diagnoses Treated: Craniosacral Therapy often has marked positive affects on both acute and chronic issues. Some common diagnoses helped by CST are; post-concussions, pain issues, chronic illness, fatigue, headaches, TMJ, sinus issues, birth trauma, and postpartum. Craniosacral Therapy also has a unique ability to help with symptoms of trauma and PTSD. Pediatric Craniosacral Therapy is extremely gentle, and can assist many concerns including; difficulty latching/breast feeding, colic, plagiocephaly, torticollis, nystagmus, ear infections, post tongue-tie revision, neurologic concerns, and motor development.

Acupunture

Acupuncture is a form of Oriental Medicine originating from China over 2000 years ago. It involves the evaluation and treatment of 12 pathways called ‘Meridians’. Each meridian contains multiple points relating to different body systems and organs. Acupuncture stimulates these points promoting healing. Stimulation is done through using small, sterilized acupuncture needles, or through manual Acupressure.

Massage Therapy

Massage has a wide range of benefits, including: reduced muscular tension/pain, improved circulation, increased joint flexibility, improved posture, decreased blood pressure, improved sleep, improved concentration, reduced anxiety/stress, temporary immune boost. Massage therapy services provided include: Swedish Massage, Cupping, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Tui-Na, Pediatric Massage and Geriatric Massage.

Acupressure

Used during massages, Acupressure is the application of pressure at discrete points along Meridian lines for therapeutic effects.

Cupping and Myofascial Release

Cupping is a form of Myofascial decompression where pliable cups are placed on the skin to create suction allowing for enhanced relaxation, blood flow, reduced pain and inflammation. Cupping works by creating suction of the soft tissue which allows separation of tissue layers between neural tissues, skin, fascia, muscles, ligaments and tendons. This newly opened space allows increased blood flow to the area and brings nutrients necessary for tissue healing. Cupping then allows muscle relaxation, trigger point release, improved lymphatic flow and removal of toxins, adhesion and scar release, reduced pain and ease of movement.

Diagnoses Treated: Back and Neck pain, Muscle pain, Tightness, Chronic pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Post Surgical Scar tissue.

Visceral Manipulation

This manual technique integrates understanding of internal organ anatomy, physiology and their inherent movement patterns. This practice evaluates and treats improper movement patterns and fascial restrictions of and around internal organs. Visceral organ issues can cause pain, constipation, urinary issues, difficult menses, bloating, poor digestion and other problems. This hands on approach encourages return of pain free normal movement and function of internal organs. Abdominal restrictions and adhesions may develop following abdominal surgery, illness, car-accidents and whiplash, prolonged postural misalignment, radiation, chemotherapy, pregnancy, or illness. The goal of Visceral manipulation is to improve organ health and vitality improving function and reducing pain.

Diagnoses Treated: Pelvic pain, Endometriosis, Abdominal pain/bloating, Post-partum/pregnancy, Heartburn, GERD/Acid Reflux, digestive complaints, Neck pain, Shortness of breath, Chest Pain, Knee pain, and more.

Lymphatic Drainage Technique (LDT)

LDT is a gentle hands-on approach used to assist your Lymphatic system. Your lymphatic system is found throughout the entire body to include organs and nervous system, and it is our natural filtration system. Lymph cleanses waste and debris (including germs, toxins, chemicals, proteins and other foreign substances) from our body fluids. Lymphatic vessels follow the circulatory system, but the network begins basically just under the skin moving deeper towards larger nodes and eventually draining into the heart, kidney and bowel. LDT works through gently stretching skin then pumping nodes and organs. Lymphatic vessels respond by increasing the movement of water, waste and debris systemically. Lymphatic fluid movement can also be enhanced through deep exhalation exercises.

Diagnoses Treated: post injury, post-surgical, post-radiation, post ‘plastic-surgery’, Chronic Fatigue, Chemical Sensitivity, post concussion, general malaise and other illnesses.
